Welcome to the Ryedale Festival Website
The RYEDALE FESTIVAL
For two weeks every July we welcome outstanding performers from all over the world, both established and emerging, to Ryedale, North Yorkshire - an area rich in history, architecture and natural beauty. Performances take place at Castle Howard, Hovingham Hall, Duncombe Park and Sledmere, as well as in Ampleforth Abbey, Helmsley Arts Centre and the many beautiful country churches of Ryedale.
WE WELCOME YOUR OPINION
We are in the process of looking into the development of a new website and have put together a very short questionnaire to this effect. Please could you spare a few minutes of your time to let us know what you would see as an ideal site. Your valued opinion will be much appreciated.
The 2014 Ryedale Festival will be
Friday 11th - Sunday 27th July
It has become a tradition that most of the Festival programme will remain under wraps until the Launch Concert but just to whet your apetite we a leaking a few events for you to look forward to.
- The Festival will open in Ampleforth Abbey on July 11th with a performance of a work ideally suited to its resonant spaces - Moteverdi's Vespers of 1610. Conducted by Robert Hollingworth and featuring a fine collection of singers and players, it should be a thrilling opening to the Festival.
- An Italian theme running throughout the Festival continues with another work by Monteverdi. This year's Festival opera will be The Coronation of Poppea - his thrilling theatrical masterpiece on the themes of love, lust, power and corruption.
- On a lighter note, our final advance hint is that there will be a Richard Rodgers Day, exploring the works that this songwriting genius created with Hart, Hamerstein and others, in a whole day of events including concerts, talks and an exhibition of Rodgers memorabilia.
We can also promise you visits to the Festival by two very special poets, an eminent string quartet in residence, five world premiers, some new faces and the return of some old ones! We hope you will be able to join us on April 11th at the Launch Concert to find out more.
The Launch Concert, when the 2014 Programme will be announced,
will be on Friday 11th April at St. Peter's Church, Norton
with the Sacconi String Quartet

Sponsoring the Ryedale Festival
Sponsorship is what keeps the festival alive.
It is a special kind of giving that reaches out and shares its results with many satisfied people: the audience who are able to enjoy a memorable concert or other event and of course the artists themselves. It could be a well established artist sharing his talent or it could be someone just starting out on an exciting career who is given the opportunity to perform. This is all in addition to the pleasure received by the Sponsor’s guests as they enjoy the benefit of best seats to the performance. Equally important it is your opportunity as a Sponsor to use this as a marketing tool.
