Christopher Glynn - Artistic Director
Christopher Glynn was appointed Artistic Director of the Ryedale Festival in 2010. He also performs widely as a pianist and accompanist, regularly partnering leading singers and instrumentalists in concerts, broadcasts and recordings throughout the world.
He has accompanied singers including Sir Thomas Allen, Matthew Best, Claire Booth, Susan Bullock, Allan Clayton, Ronan Collett, Lucy Crowe, Neal Davies, Michael George, Anthony Rolfe Johnson, Jonas Kaufmann, Julie Kennard, Andrew Kennedy, Yvonne Kenny, Dame Felicity Lott, Christopher Maltman, Ian Partridge, Derek Lee Ragin, Joan Rodgers, Kate Royal, James Rutherford, Carolyn Sampson, Toby Spence, Bryn Terfel, Ailish Tynan, Lillian Watson, Roderick Williams, Catherine Wyn Rogers and many others. He has also performed with instrumentalists including Julian Bliss, Natalie Clein, Michael Collins, Nicholas Daniel, Daniel Hope and Jennifer Pike, with chamber groups including the Elias Quartet, London Winds and the Fitzwilliam Quartet, and with choirs including Consortium and The Sixteen.
Chris has made acclaimed CD recordings for labels including Hyperion, Decca, Signum, Erato, Coro and Cantoris. He has also made many recordings and live broadcasts for BBC radio and television. He is a Professor at the Royal College of Music, an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music, and has adjudicated in several major competitions.
Recent highlights include a recording of the songs of Michael Head on Hyperion with Ailish Tynan, Catherine Wyn Rogers and Roderick Williams. Future plans include concerts at the Wigmore Hall, several live broadcasts for BBC Radio 3, a US and Canadian tour with Kate Royal and recording projects and recitals throughout Europe. Chris will also present a concert series entitled The Songs of Ravel and his circle at the Wigmore Hall with singers including Bernarda Fink, Ailish Tynan and Christopher Maltman..
