Festival Programmes
2011 Ryedale Festival
The programme for the 2011 Rydale Festival was announced, and brochures distributed, at the Festival Launch Concert featuring the CONSORTIUM choir held at St. Peter's church, Norton, Malton on the 6th May.
Here is just a taste of the treats that are in store:-
The Festival opens with a production of Leos Janáček’s The Cunning Little Vixen, in a new translation by Festival president John Warrack. This charming opera -premiered in Brno in slovakia in 1924, and drawn by Janáček from a newspaper cartoon strip about the adventures of a vixen called sharp-ears — is the first of several events based on the theme of ‘The Animal Kingdom’.
Musicians in residence include the Elias Quartet, Julian Bliss and Alexandra Dariescu, and our distinguished soloists include Sir Thomas Allen, Dame Emma Kirkby,
Howard Shelley and Joan Rodgers. There will be performances by Northern Sinfonia, The Orchestra of Opera North, Yorkshire Baroque Soloists and Ensemble 360 — plus jazz, literary events, films, masterclasses, exhibitions, the Community Opera and fringe events.
We look forward hugely to welcoming you to the Festival !
