Winner of the 2006 Abstract Securities Landor Competition, Lithuanian-born Evelina Puzaite comes to Ryedale shortly after her Wigmore Hall debut and is rapidly making a name for herself as a pianist of distinction. Kodály’s Marosszék Dances draw on beautiful traditional melodies from Transylvania, while Falla owes much to the music of Andalusian gypsies. Schumann’s Davidsbündler were semi-fictitious characters through whom he attacked those of his contemporaries that he believed were musical ‘philistines’.
