Handel, Purcell arias for trumpet and voice

We celebrate the anniversary of Henry Purcell’s birth and the death of another of ‘England’s’ finest composers. Purcell’s ‘Mad Songs’ – incidental theatre music – are amongst his most inventive and dramatic works. Many of his domestic sacred songs are equally compelling, as are his settings of English metaphysical poetry.

England’s finest baroque trumpeter, Crispian Steele-Perkins, will perform trumpet solos as well as duets with the singers and entertain in his unique style.

Handel is represented by Let the bright Seraphim and a newly discovered cantata for trumpet and voices.
