In 1705, Bach, then a young man of twenty, walked nearly 300 miles from Arnstadt to Lübeck to hear the renowned organist Dietrich Buxtehude play and, as he put it, ‘to comprehend one thing and another about his art’.

This recital celebrates this famous musical voyage in the organ works of Bach and Buxtehude, including the famous Toccata and Fugue in D minor and is performed by Robert Sharpe - one of our most eminent local musicians and Director of Music at York Minster.
