Beethoven - Septet in Eb (Op. 20)

The Ryedale Festival 2012 is to be launched by the world-famous Nash Ensemble.  Acclaimed for their adventurous programming and virtuoso performances, they have built up a remarkable reputation throughout the world as one of Britain’s finest chamber groups. Their numerous accolades include two Royal Philharmonic Society awards and they are variously described in the press as ‘among the world’s great chamber groups’ (New Statesman), ‘this national treasure of an ensemble (The Times) and ‘the best champion that any composer could hope to have (New Statesman). Their repertoire is vast, and their imaginative, innovative, and unusual programmes are as finely architectured as the beautiful Nash terraces in London, from which the group takes its name.

Their programme includes Beethoven’s Septet - one of his most convivial masterpieces - but also gives the audience the chance to discover a little-known work by the great Swedish composer Franz Berwald. Composed in 1828 his Septet is a captivating work, full of delightful melodies and imaginative instrumentation.

THE 2012 PROGRAMME WILL BE ANNOUNCED AND BROCHURES DISTRIBUTED AT THE END OF THE CONCERT.
